1. Read to your children regularly - It helps to strengthen reading, writing and speaking skills.
2. Limit the amount of time children spend watching TV - When you do allow them to watch TV select quality programs to watch together and talk about them afterward.
3. Show an interest in what's going on at school - Research indicates that showing an interest in what children do at school is the most important thing parents can do to motivate their children.
4. Help your child find a quiet study area - Children need a quiet place for homework with distractions like television, radio, and telephones kept to a minimum.
5. Let your children know homework is a top priority - If you think it's important, they'll be likely to think so, too.
6. Stay informed - Ask your child what is going on at school, when tests are etc. This will keep last minute panicking to a minimum.
